The school was renamed some time later as Wellington Middle School.
Green Lane School was built in 1872 and closed 110 years later in September 1982The

LCC had decided
that a 3 tier school system was better....
although LCC reverted back to a 2 tier
within a short period of time.

It fell into disrepair and was
later demolished and a
nursing home was built on the site.
